Empowered Nurses Can Reduce the Number of Unnecessary Patient Deaths
A New Book, “From Frustrated to Fulfilled: The Empowered Nurses’ System,” Shows Nurses How to Improve Patient Care
Indianapolis, IN, March 16, 2015 – There are 210,000 unnecessary deaths in hospitals each year. Nurses have the answers to drastically reduce this number but are often too afraid to say anything. Lorie Brown, the editor of the new book, “From Frustrated to Fulfilled: The Empowered Nurses’ System,” knows this from personal experience. During her first year of nursing, she was written up for simply trying to get lifesaving equipment during an emergency.
Ms. Brown, who went on to become an attorney that represents nurses, found that she wasn’t alone in her frustrations with nursing. She collaborated with ten other nurses who loved their profession but realized that something was not quite right with nursing. Together they wrote a book that not only chronicles their journey but also shares how they found a way to rise above the problems and create meaningful and fulfilling lives and careers for themselves.
In “From Frustrated to Fulfilled: The Empowered Nurses’ System,” nurses are introduced to the Empowered Nurses’ Bill of Rights. This bill is not about what people think nurses want – such as better pay or benefits – but what nurses really want yet rarely asked for – like being treated with fairness and equality.
Instead of blaming doctors, supervisors or the status-quo culture at many hospitals, nurses are encouraged to develop their own GIFTS™ and embrace the challenge of creating a nursing environment they love. They also learn how to develop leadership skills, speak their mind and stand in their power to make the changes necessary to improve their workplace and more importantly, lifesaving patient care.
Ms. Brown believes that every nurse can make a positive impact in health care. She says, “I can’t wait to see the ripple effect on the healthcare industry with more empowered nurses in the workforce!” Nurses can order a copy of the book or request a sample chapter at: empowerednursesbook.com.
